  Volvo A30C 1:16

Hi,
I am starting my next project and it will be Volvo A30C dumber.

Plan is to use AFV tires (Default tire in A30C Volvo is 30/65R25) so suitable wheel could be this http://www.afv-model.com/4711shop/product_info.php?info=p2729_Tire-for-wheel-loader-models-Bruder-Conrad-L574.html.

I am trying to figure out what kind of grear motor I should use in axles. Question is that is this motor

http://www.conrad.de/ce/de/product/227552/?insert=U1&hk=WW2&utm_source=epro&utm_medium=seosite&utm_campaign=link&WT.mc_id=epro

too weak and should I instead of that use this

Hi Ari!

You've linked to the same motor twice.
The RB35 in 1:50 is IMO not enough for the dumper.
I have those in my grader and there it's okay, but I'd be worried that they might be too weak for a dumper that is supposed to haul a load up a hill...
My grader weighs about 9kg and has roughly the power of 5 RB35s.

I'm not a dumper expert, though...

In 1:100, the RB35 would have enough torque, but be pretty slow.
Also, the bushing in the RB35 is not really suited to carrying high loads. You can use the flange of the bushing to support the load.
You can replace the original motor with a Speed 300 (Graupner). These are more powerful, even at 7.2V (their nominal voltage).

Cheers
Jens

Thank's Jens.

I also checked MFA motor 1:100 (http://www.mfacomodrills.com/pdfs/940D%20series.pdf) but it is too long.

Does anyone know what kind of motors are used in this dumber http://www.stahl-modellbau.de/udp-005.html

And how about using Tamiya Truck axles?

Hi,

Does someone know could this motor be enough powerful for the dumper http://www.servonaut.de/shop/product_info.php?info=p79_servonaut-rb35power80.html

It looks like Stahl uses RB35 gearboxes with longer motors.
I remember that the MFA gearboxes are similar to the RB35, but I don't really know.

You can see a build thread of the dumper here:

Tamiya truck axles would work, but I think the differential would be problematic. You could lock the diff and live with the worsened turning circle.

Also, Tamiya truck axles are plastic and might not be up to the stress of a dumper. You could get metal replacements, search for "RC Channels" on ebay/google.

Wenn jemand Ari beim Achsenbau helfen kann, einfach hier posten - auch auf Deutsch, ich versuche dann zu übersetzen smile
